The College of Education and Continuing Studies is an innovative learning community where faculty and staff of diverse cultures and perspectives work collaboratively to educate and motivate learners of all ages and to generate and disseminate knowledge that will improve and enrich the lives of individuals, families, and communities in a global society.
To this end, we strive to provide a student-centered, intellectually challenging learning environment; to engage in meaningful research and service activities that address compelling social purposes; and to maintain and enhance our position as leaders in our respective fields.
The College of Education and Continuing Studies was formed in July 2007, when President William R. Harvey merged the Departments of Education and Health, Physical Education and Recreation with the College of Continuing Education. The College attends to the founding mission of the institution - teacher preparation and leadership development - while also being uniquely situated to meet the educational needs of individuals aged 2 ½ years old to 55 and over.
